While it is nice to think of computers as their own little indestructible fortress, this is sadly not the case. Sometimes they fall prey to viruses or other malicious computer stuff that can jeopardize the internal contents of the computer. Even if the system is restored, you could end up losing valuable files that were stored on the hard drive, which makes it essential to back up your work to a secondary source whenever possible.
